it has been already 3 weeks since i came back to nagoya... time flies!!!
i was always believing that the Higashi Ward, where i grew until 18 and i live at the moment, did not have any cozy waterfront at all. but it turned out to be a false. it turned out that i just neglected to explore this tiny area just because of my bias based on nothing.
a few days ago, although i didnt expect to see anything special, i just decided to cycle around the northern part of east ward. i knew that there was a river there, but the trip was planned in order to confirm how boring this east ward could be and how nasty the river was. fortunately, my expectation was betrayed.
the riverside was relatively well organised and quite neat. it was comfortable to cycle about. the water quality looked ok at least, and there was no unpleasant smell that i would hate. people enjoyed walking, cycling, jogging, relaxing, exploring, playing some games, and doing whatever activities they liked. it was much much better than my expectation.
ok, i wouldnt say this area was really great and there was nothing bad at all. in fact, there were many negative aspects as well. but if this area could be maintained (or preferably further improved), the QoL of the east ward would be surely enhanced.
this small bike trip made me keenly realize that places could be changed and your image based on nothing or old memories is not trust worthy at all. as i am currently involved in job-hunting for town-planning consultant agencies, i am determined to be more action-oriented in order to know target sites more.
