generally speaking, ive believed that megalopolises in japan are often exciting since they have dynamism in atmosphere and human behavior. yet after seeing seoul, i started feeling differently about it. as far as i noticed, seoul seemed to have much more energy than any other cities in developed countries. this may be because it still preserves the forcefulness that developing countries tend to have while it is already regarded as developed and in some extent, it is indeed fully totally developed. from this aspect, with regards to energy, i dont think neither tokyo, osaka or nagoya can compete with seoul at all. this is what makes me feel uneasy about excitement of mega-cities in japan.
but it does not necessarily mean that japanese cities are not exciting at all. i think that theres always laid-back excitement involved in cities in japan. this relaxed, laid-back atmosphere cannot be observed in energetic cities i guess. this is what i like about cities in this country. they often have chaos and mess that are typical character for asian cities, yet they somehow lack aspiration for growth, which should be accompanied with them. as architectures are super modern and edgy and neon on signboards are sparkling, people seem to be either much more relaxed or tired in these cities. i like this gap. i believe that this is what makes cities in japan more exciting. in fact, thats what i observed from the first walk on one saturday night in the central part of nagoya.
ill try to observe this sort of aspects here and inform through this site.
